Bangalore, Sep 13: M S Siddaraju (48), MLA of Maddur constituency in Mandya district, who had been elected on JD(S) ticket in the last election, expired on Friday, September 12.

Siddaraju was undergoing treatment in a private hopsital here since some time, for his ailments. However, treatments failed to improve his helth. Siddaraju had been a member of the state legislative council in the past.

Siddaraju had entered politics by becoming the president of Maddur Taluk Service Co-operative Society in 1987. He fought against ex-chief minister Krishna in 1989 for the assembly seat but was defeated. He was considered to be a loyalist of the JD(S) and did not desert the party even when he was disappointed in the past after failing to secure the party ticket.
