Udupi: Rotary Shankerpura Organizes Free Eye Camp

A free eye camp was held at Shankerpura Rotary Bhavan, near here on Monday January 26, under the auspices of Rotary Club and Rotary Trust, Shankerpura. 
 
The camp was inaugurated by Koteshwar Rotary Club former president N Mohan Achar.
 
Well-known eye surgeon Dr Krishna Prasad and Dr Nityanand Nayak were present.

Dr Prasad, speaking on the occasion, said that it is essential to examine eyes at frequent intervals especially after 40 years of age, to identify and diagnose various diseases and to treat them.
 
Shankerpura Rotary Club and Rotary Trust president Dr Edward Lobo welcomed the gathering.
 
Rotary community services director Anantaram Bhat gave a brief account of Rotary activities, especially various medical camps and other health-related programmes conducted by the club, recently. 
 
Around 136 patients participated in the camp, of whom 26 were selected for eye operations, and 19 patients received spectacles free of cost.
