Mangalore, Jan 29: "The state government has been providing impetus for rural development and is committed to protect farmers' interests. Many plans were envisaged in the previous budget for achieving this goal and the chief minister wants to introduce more such schemes in this year's budget," said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a vented dam built at Delantabettu Pucchadikatte near Suratkal recently.

MLA Abhaychandra Jain presided. Ex-MLA Amarnat Shetty, zilla panchayat president Sucharita Shetty, taluk panchayat president Vajrakshi Shetty and several other dignitaries were present.
