Mangalore: Pub Attack - Solidarity Meet at Kadri Park on Jan 31

Mangalore, Jan 30: Group of like minded citizens comprising Vidya Dinker, President, Citizens Forum, Nina Rai – Daijiworld Writer/Journalist and freelancer, Shamim – social activist and educationist, Kripa Alva businesswoman, along-with other professionals will be holding a Solidarity Meet at Kadri Park at 5.30 pm on Saturday January 31. 

The announcement on the Solidarity Meet was made by Kripa Alva at a press meet held at the Press Club on Wednesday, Jan 27. The Meet is being organized for all people cutting across all barriers of society. It is meant to be platform for citizens to voice their concern on the recent incidents of violence against women and the infringement of fundamental rights of individuals, particularly pertaining to the Mangalore Pub incident, where youngsters were assaulted as well as molested by self-appointed custodians of morality. 

This incident has caught the attention of not only the local media but even the National and International press. It’s time now for Mangaloreans too, to show that such acts of violence against women will not be tolerated by the man on the street. The conveners of the Solidarity Meet request all responsible citizens of the city to be present at the Meet to show their solidarity for a just cause but at the same time sending across a strong message that even youngsters of today must respect the laws of the land and behave responsibly.
