Udupi: Advocate Shirtady William Pinto to be Conferred Alevoor Award

Udupi, Jan 30:
Alevoor Group of Education Institutions will confer its prestigious ‘Alevoor Group Award–2009’, on Shirtady Wlliam Pinto, a senior advocate, writer, and  social activist, in a function to be held at 4.30 pm on Friday January 30 at Shantiniketan School hall, here.
 
Manipal University registrar Dr G K Prabhu will confer the award on Pinto for his commitment to public causes and his service to landless peasants and tenants. Since 1974, Pinto has been educating them through his speeches and his hand book on the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, besides promoting awareness on Panchayat Raj Bills, educating the masses on the concept of decentralization of power and power to the people.
