Puttur, Jan 30:
Indian Railway authorities have decided to give cash reward to the students who recently averted a major train accident. The students who showed  their presence of mind in identifying a crack on the track at Mittur near here a few weeks ago, had successfully stopped a train moving on the track, by waving red cloth and saving the train of an impending danger.  Mohammed Munawar Uppinangady, Mohammed Asif Barimar, Fayaz Barimar, Shafi Surikumer and Tanveer Guruvayanakere are the students of Mani Darul Irshad Education Institute residing at Mittur boy's hostel, who will be presented with the cash reward.

The students were walking on the railway track while on their way to school as it was a short cut to Mittur Kabaka High School, during December 2008.  As they were crossing the railway tracks, one of the students spotted the gap on one of the tracks.  Meanwhile, they saw a train approaching the spot from a distance.  One of the students had a red sports jacket in his school bag which they waved at the train, taking note of which the engine driver stopped the train just a few yards away.  Thus the students with their brave act and presence of mind averted a major train accident.  Later, railway officers arrived at the spot with workmen and restored the tracks for smooth traffic.

Daijiworld had carried a report on this brave act and presence of mind shown by the youngsters. The students were honoured by Esha Education Institute principal Gopalakrishna during the annual day celebration held recently.  The people here are happy over the decision of railways to send cash reward of Rs 500 to each of these students.

Now take that incident when you ponder on "All Muslims are not terrorists and but all terrorists are Muslims"! Do we need a better proof to say that even the minority community has lot of patriots, just like the others? These hooligans who impose their self created morality on weeker sections of the society and think of dividing the nation must learn from these little kids about love for one's country and real bravery. Hats off to these young boys!!!!

it is very sad to note that the railways given only RS.500.00 to these brave students. The railways should have done more.
