Mangalore: NMPT Creates Record - Handles 24,095 TEU Cargo

Mangalore, Jan 30: With the arrival of three container ships at the Panamboor harbour in a week's time, the harbour will enter into record books for handling cargo.

The East African ships ‘Kota Angun' arrive at the port on Friday January 30, while 'Delmas Twiga' on February 2 and 'Kota Henning' are expected to reach New Mangalore port on Friday January 30, Monday February 2 and Friday February 6 respectively.

Earlier 'Kota Manis' ship carrying 185 boxes of cashew had arrived at the port on January 20 and returned after unloading the cargo.

The port has handled 24,095 TEU cargo this year as compared to 17,241 TEU supplies last year. This year the port has handled 40% more cargo, stated New Mangalore Port Trust, in a press release.
