Mangalore, Feb 6: Suspected Sri Ram Sena activists have reportedly attacked the Kerala CPM MLA's daughter and her friend while the two were returning from Manjeshwar in Kerala to Mangalore by bus at about 6 pm on Friday evening.
Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik, and the man blamed for the attacks on women in a Mangalore pub has denied it.
Few persons who had boarded the vehicle under the guise of passengers, forced them to alight and took them in an autorickshaw to an unidentified place, Western Range IGP A M Prasad told.
The miscreants however released them later.
Prasad refused to disclose the name of the girl, but said she is the daughter of C H Kunhambu, Manjeshwar constituency MLA.
Kunhambu told that his daughter and her friend were assaulted by Bajrang Dal, Ram Sena goons.
The MLA said that the bus conductor belonged to BJP. "He called Bajrang Dal, Ram Sena goons."
"They dragged my daughter, her friend out of bus. They forced my daughter and him into an auto-rickshaw, and took them away."
"They let my daughter go after holding her captive for 1 hour. The Muslim boy was released much later," he said.
"Ram Sena, Bajrang Dal activists snatched away my daughter's mobile phone," he added.
The MLA said that he had informed the Karnataka Home Minister about the incident.
Police declined to divulge the name of the boy. The motive behind the miscreants act was yet to be probed, Prasad added.
