M'lore: COD to Investigate Suicide of Humiliated Minor Girl near Mulky, Congress Demands CBI Probe

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 13:  The state government has decided to hand over the probe  relating to the death of a 16-year-old girl from Elinje village near Mulky, who committed suicide on Wednesday February 11, reportedly out of humiliation and insult, to Corps of Detectives(COD). There have been allegations, that she ended her life, after being raped by a person she knew since a few months.

The COD policemen are expected to arrive in the district today, to take up the investigation. Salim (27), who officiated as driver and conductor of the bus on some occasions, and who happens to be the son of the owner of the bus by which the girl used to commute, has been accused of befriending  and raping her. He has been arrested by the policemen.

Rafiq

Reportedly, the girl student who accompanied the victim during her nightmarish trip with the accused has been kept in a secret place by the policemen for providing her protection. She is considered as the prime witness in the case.

Saleem

Salim, who was produced in the court, has been remanded to judicial custody till the 25th of this month. Senior police officials, officials of the intelligence department and politicians have been visiting the home of the victim.

Congress Demands CBI Probe

Through a statement, the district Congress has asked the state Governor Rameshwar Thakur to hand over the probe into the incidents leading to the suicide of minor student Ashwini Kulal to the Central Bureau of Investigation. It has also asked him to get a report on the murders, suicides and other atrocities that are routinely occurring in this part of the state and initiate suitable steps.

The government, by supporting the public assaults, atrocities on women, attack on churches, objections on Valentine's Day celebrations etc., indulged in by organizations like Bajrang Dal and Sri Rama Sena which are running a parrellel government, has violated constitution. The state home minister has ushered in an era of fear and apprehension in the minds of the people of the coastal districts.  The state government has been policitizing every issue by terming everything as routine, district vice president of Congress Ivan D'Souza said, warning that the Congress will strongly fight against such injustices.

The district Congress Committee  has urged the Governor to depute an independent officer to investigate the above incident and warn the government for its failure to manage the situation.  It alleged, that the Sangh Parivar and Bajrang Dal are responsible for Ashwini's death and hence, demanded for a CBI probe. It has also complained that the local police have been acting hand-in-glove with the state government in illegal activities.

Let us stop behaving like kids and flinging dirt at parties or communities. Let us not forget that whatever religion they belong to ALL have to face GOD in the end. "As they sow, so shall they reap". So, just pray to Almighty GOD that the culprits in whichever riots or bad incidents are punished and pay for their evil plans. GOD will punish them and your prayers can help fasten such a solution. Also, remember to vote out all partiesthat indulge in such cheap personal attacks on Sonia or Advani or Rahul or Modi.

Are you the one who did the autopsy test, on what ground are you confirming that she was raped. Remember power is always miused by radical groups like the one we have in power. It wont last for too long. Base your comments on the truth and not what our state govt says. I am in support of justice, whoever is a culprit he should be punished. If the girl was raped, the rapist should be given the capital punishment. However, if not then the investigation should go on and reach the root of this issue.

Wonder if this suggestion is a crazy one. The whole of Mangalore, the ones for justice, should simply have a sit-in sathyagraha on all the roads. Let all come to a stand-still. There wont be any justice ever or impartial enquiry made by any Police. They draw down God's justice on themselves and their families in the manner they justly deserve, if not now, later, as thre is the Almighty above. Does this goes on and on? Our Manglaore is becoming quite in the news affair.

If the girl has been raped, then the rapists should get the severest punishment that the Indian legal system gives. Even if she has not been raped, but the accused was having an affair with her, still he and his accomplice should be charged for abusing a minor. But what punishment should the Police and the parents of the girl should get for having failed to save their child even after rescuing it from the accused?

ITS GOOD TO C U BEING IMPARTIAL..yes the criminals dont belong to any religion or caste.they just belong to the group named "criminals". and criminals should be punished no matter their relegion,caste..b`cz if they are not punished, the culprit will become confident to commite more & more crime. so please stop supporting the culprits. and turning the matter to a political issue to create vote bank out of it.. please let us pray for the girl's soul to rest in peace and provide justice to her.. and punish the culprit so that no one else should dare to repeat the same incident..

How can we conclude that the girl was raped without the autopsy report. It should be noted that the girl was humiliated and draged out of the bus along with her friend Madevi and salim by the so called protector of our culture. Also the girls friend Madevi who was the prime evidence is also missing... It is immposible to get justice under this government which is indirectly suporting moral policing.

Now how do the Congressis expect anyone to believe that the CBI will conduct an impartial investigation in this case? It would be better to hand over the case to an investigation agency from outside India - perhaps American FBI or Pakistani ISI.

Ms Smitha, Before blaming anyone, let us try to analyze the situation. I totally agree with the fact the Saleem is guilty of having a consensual sex with a minor which will be considered as Rape under any justice system. There is no doubt that anyone having sex with a minor should be punished. What did the brave men who caught Saleem and the girl did? Paraded them all over the town before giving them to the police. What did these police men did? No medical tests, no evidence gathering, instead I am sure they let the girl go home with her parents. Let us not forget that our men in uniforms are good for nothing. It’s a known fact that policemen will do anything to get some extra cash, promotion and hafta. Let us not forget that these brave men were mute spectators to the church attacks and were well known to beat the crap out of women and nuns. These are the same men who arrived last on the pub attack day. What did our so called protectors of hunduism/ Indian-culture did? Humiliated a victim and assisted in her suicide. What did the media do? Sensationalized the issue to gain maximum advertisement revenue and asked questions next to kin "aap to kaise lag raha hai???". What did we do? Voted a less evil party thinking that we are teaching a lesson to a bigger evil and now realize that all are equal in politicecs when it comes to power and governance. Well, it’s unfortunate that we will find a hindu/christian/muslim name in any crime or VHP/Congress/BJP/BD/SRS member in every crime!!! There we go we paint the saints and ravans. We pass the verdict without giving a chance to defend. We don't care for the law that’s why we support What Muthalik did!!!! What an irony!!!

Nobody believes anything that said by biased Karnataka police or Karnataka Government. Nobody knows real story behind this incident. Karnataka Govt. and police are very good in turning and twisting any incident to their benefit, like they said MLA's daughter's attackers are of CPM and Bajrangi’s Lawyer is also lawyer of CPM. Unless this incident is investigated by any one other than Karnataka Police, the truth will not come out. People have no faith in Karnataka police and their uncle Archarya.

How could she be raped in a bus? Could it be another simple incident like a regularly travelling girl talking to the driver/conductor whom she meets every day? There are possibilities of some arm-twisting of the parents by BJDal people, who have become roaming goondas in Mangalore.

We hear a lot of such stories from our relatives. On the first day, there was no mention of rape. If it had happened, definitely the person should be punished. How did these goons come to know about it? Why didn't they inform the police? Why did they drag them down from the bus? Did anyone try to understand the girls' version?

The sensible MLA of Kasaragod supported his daughter. Unfortunately, this poor child's father was supposed to have beaten her up in the police station. No wonder she killed herself! Only an impartial enquiry can bring out the truth. Is it possible under the present circumstances? These goons should be skinned alive for driving her to commit suicide.

Pertinent points to be considered: 1. Was there any autopsy done on the girl? what evidence can the police and therefore the PROSECUTION provide to prove that there was sexual encounter?( rape- with a minor) 2. What role did the Ramasene( read NDTV news) had to play in harassment to the girl- so she commited suicide? 3. A life is lost - can moral policing be the answer or effective law enforcement and punishment by the LAW ? 4. What roles police could have played in this episode( positive role)? protection of the sexual abuse victim is of utmost importance. This is what I opine: first a girl gets molested ( outragious - condemn it !) but secondlu moral policing ends the LIFE OF INNOCENT GIRLS LIFE!!!! Both are EVILS.

People are not jobless to comment against the authorities, when they have already taken the necessary action. And it is not any act done by any Goon sanga parivars or Bajarang Dal. it is committed by an idividual and he is already behind the bars. If it was done by the Bajalinga dala or Sri Rama sene, yes we need to comment and need people like Renuka's interference, since Govt is failed to take necessary actions and supporting the culprits.
