Mangalore: Thorough Probe Sought into Ashwini Case

Mangalore, Feb 22: Dakshina Kannada Moolyara Yane Kulalara Sangha has urged for a comprehensive probe into the suicide case of teenager Ashwini of Elinge village.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Association President M P Bangera alleged that Ashwini had been forced to commit suicide. She was raped through monetary inducements by way of misusing her family’s poverty, he complained. “The Kulalara Sangha welcomes the government’s order to handover the case to CoD. But, there are chances of political pressures on Ashwini’s parents. Fundamentalists may try to spoil the evidences. Hence, the district administration should provide proper security to the family,” he urged.

Political leaders and organisations have not taken serious note of the suicide incident.
