Udupi: Moily Cries Foul on Debates on Party Positions

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Feb 23: Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday February 22 at the district Congress committee office here, chairman of the Central Administrative Reforms Commission M Veerappa Moily expressed his displeasure at the ongoing loud debates which speculate about offering of party positions to political leaders. He asked everyone to stop these discussions forthwith, terming them as absurd.

"Party is paramount, not individuals. The party has all along been giving positions to people it finds worthy of it. There is a need to at once end all discussions and debates on the positions leaders like Siddaramaiah, Deshpande, Bangarappa and others are likely to get. More and more positions can be created if the party grows stronger. Therefore, we should end all discussions on this topic," he advised the party leaders.

"There is a need to plug secular votes getting split between many parties. We should ponder over the reasons that enabled the BJP to rise to power in Karnataka, while all other states in the south have not backed that party. We can think of entering into an alliance with other like-minded parties at the state level, but I feel there is no necessity for a national-level understanding," he explained.

Moily expected that the Congress will win several important Loksabha seats this time in the state, including Mangalore. D V Sadanand Gowda has chosen Udupi constituency in an attempt to look for a safer bastion, and the Congress is set to spring a surprise in Udupi and defeat the BJP, he analyzed. He further said, that the state, which was in the forefront in attracting investments in the past, has slipped to the 15th position after the BJP wrested power.

District Congress president M A Gafoor, leaders Pramoad Madhwaraj, Narasimhamurthy, Alevoor Nagaraj, Harish Kini etc were present at the press conference.

"Party is paramount, not individuals" is applicable to every one, dear sir, then why our senior most congress leaders encouraging groupism within the Party? It pains neutral Karya karthas and they loose faith in Congress. Hence kindly let us Practice what we Preach Sir, then only, I repeat then only, Congress Party will prosper.
