Mangalore: SIO to Protest Against Attacks on Students

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SN/CN)

Mangalore, Feb 23: The Students Islamic Organization (SIO) will stage a protest in front of the DC’s office on Saturday February 28 at 3 pm.

The protest will be staged to oppose the recent harassment of students.

“The students’ freedom is being withheld and they are being harassed in many incidents like the pub attack, the attack on Manjeshwar MLA's daughter, Tanzeem’s murder, interruption of the tour organized by the students of an engineering college, and the Ashwini suicide case. These are major issues where all the accused are students of various schools and colleges”, said Muhammad Nisar, district convener, SIO, speaking at the press conference on Friday February 20.

Prof B Surendra Rao, retired lecturer, Mangalore University, Shoukat Ali, president, SIO, Satyajit Rai, All College Students’ Union, Ruksana, Girls Islamic Organization of India, and Muhammad Kunni, Youth Wing, will address the gathering on the occasion.

Nisar claimed that the government’s campaign to oppose terrorist activity is praiseworthy but the implementation of the Sangh Parivar's agenda is not right.

He said that the government must start a campaign to create awareness against consumption of alcohol and drugs by the students on the campus and assured the support of his organization to such an initiative.

C H Mansoor and Kabir were present at the press conference.

Vishal D'Souza there is no eye washing business here dear friend. Islam never preaches terror. If anybody, individuals or organizations irrespective of caste, creed or religion involve in the terror activities, SIO condemns that. SIO is not prejudiced brother. Please do not make innocents as scapegoats as terrorits without any solid proofs. We, SIO always condemn the terror activities. We are with you in enjoining the good and forbidding the evil on peaceful methods. In view of the above, please stop critisising the people with good intentions OK?

This organisation should first protest against the terrorists avtivities by SIMI, IM who killed thousnads of innocent people. This organisation doesn't have any right to protest against small incidents. If they are really concerned about Ashwini suicide case let them take a stand to hang the cluprits who raped the minor girl by taking advantage. Just eyewashing is not enough.
