Udupi: Woman Dies in Accident near Padubidri

Udupi, Feb 23: Gayatri Madiyal (55), wife of Mulky Vijaya College retired principal Ashok Madiyal, breathed her last in a Mangalore hospital, where she was admitted in, after the car in which was travelling, hit a roadside tree near Padubidri Beedu on the evening of Sunday February 22.

Ashok Madiyal happens to be the younger brother of the retired director general of police Timmappaiah Madiyal. The marriage of the second daughter of Ashok and Gayatri had been solemnized in Mangalore on February 19.  The Maruti car, heading from here towards Mangalore, was being driven by Ashok when the accident occurred.

The car suddenly swerved to extreme right and hit the tree. The front portion of the car took the full impact of the accident and got badly mangled in the accident. The people who saw the accident, rushed to the spot and helped in bringing Gayatri Madiyal, who had been entangled in the damaged car, out of it. She was rushed to Mangalore after providing first aid at a private hospital in Padubidri. However, she could not be revived. Ashok Madiyal, who also sustained grievous injuries, is being treated in Mangalore.

Padubidri police have registered a case and are investigating.
