Kundapur, Feb 25: The Lokayukta sleuths who raided the office of the special tahsildar in Byndoor on Tuesday February 24, arrested surveyor Prakash, on the allegations of accepting bribe.

In the recent past, there had been lot of complaints about the all encompassing corruption in the office of the special tahsildar Byndoor. People coming from far off rural areas, located deep inside the Western Ghats, were frustrated over non-cooperative attitude of the officials.

Reportedly, surveyor Prakash had been harassing a man named Ram Devadiga from Byndoor, withholding his land survey work. Allegedly, he demanded Rs 2,000 as bribe for completing the work. When accepting bribe on Tuesday, he was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta officials.

Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police Prabhudev Mane, circle inspector Belliappa and others took part in the operation. Prakash is the second official from the Byndoor survey department to have been nabbed by the Lokayukta. He was later produced in a court in Kundapur.
