Mangalore, Feb 25: The inaugural of Youths Week was held at Poornaprajna Management Institute here, on Tuesday February 24.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Omkareshwari, Regional Transport Officer, told the students that getting education alone should not be their goal. They should give equal importance to extra-curricular activities, gaining practical experience and enriching their knowledge of environment, she said.

The students must give importance to involve with creative work and be independent and expressive.  They should never be dependent and should not blindly follow others. They should be active in all activities. Only then can they succeed in life, she opined.

As part of the programme, a work in English, 'Beyond the Veil of Myself', authored by Sinchana Sringeri was released by Omkareshwari.

Speaking on the occasion, writer Sinchana said that she has reduced her thoughts into writing, while bringing out this book. “The work was backed by my inclination to minutely grasp every aspect of life,” she explained.

Presiding over the function, Rajmohan, college principal, said that programmes like this, which encourage one to think and sharpen their thinking power, should be held periodically.

An exhibition of paintings by lecturer Vasant Rao titled 'Varnambudhi' and demonstration was inaugurated by Chitrakala Mandir director Dr U C Niranjan.

Akshata and Archana rendered the invocation. Dr M R Hegde, director of the institution, welcomed the gathering. Manoj Rao coordinated the programme. Santosh Prabhu proposed vote of thanks.
