Mangalore, Feb 25:
Two members of the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) were admitted to a private hospital in the city with injuries after they were beaten up by miscreants in Puttur while putting up posters.

Ahmed Nafih (15) and Muhammed Iliyaz (17) are the injured students. Both are residents of Puttur. Nafih is from Salmara and studies in the ninth standard in Mountain View School while Iliyaz is from Parladka and a second PUC student at Esha Tutorials.

Iliyaz claimed that they were beaten up by a group of 30 people who initially questioned them about the posters and the organization.

The duo was putting up the posters on walls and by the road near Nehru Nagar in Puttur. The posters were about an SIO programme in Mangalore about the atrocities on students including the pub attack, and the harassment of the Kerala MLA’s daughter.

Nafih alleged that the miscreants spoke in a rude manner and did not allow them to make calls on their mobile phones, instead snatched it along with their wallets.

The police at Puttur have taken statements from the victims and registered a case. Their phones and wallets were also returned by the police.

The injured boys claimed that they had never seen their attackers before and did not know which organization they belonged to. They added that the miscreants refused to listen to them.

Is this organization founded on the same ideals as banned 'SIMI' ?? Every organization of this type starts with ideal goals but end up being anti-indian and resort to terror to achieve their goals.

SIO is a social and peace loving organisation and it is not communal in any way. Beatig up innocents now a days is a common practice in DK. Hence we should jointly condemn such attacks and hope the new SP will stop such trouble makers

I was Part of SIO during my Student Life and Students Islamic Organization of India is an ideological organization working in the country for preparing students and youth for the reconstruction of society in the divine guidance.

Any body wants to know about SIO can log on to their Web site www.sio-india.org and throughout SIO’s history it never acted beyond India’s constitutional rights and I am sure they had permission before proceeding with sticking posters other wise there are thousand waiting to act against this organization if they get mere excuse to blame the organization and I have personally known thousands of well wishers from other community who appreciate SIO’s work in the filed of education, carriers guidance, social works irrespective of cast and religion, hence I am requesting all the brothers of Mangalore and surround to condemn this coward act file your agitation against this.

Posters, posters and posters everywhere. Actually one should seek permission before sticking a poster from the owner of that property.Last time there was an issue when posters were stuck on the compound wall of a mosque. So, if the owner does not consent on sticking the poster then it should not be done.

Its really lamentable. No freedom of expression allowed in Mangalore. All right thinking people should take up the cause and agitate for better performance of the police. Simply filing the cases and letting out people on bail will not deter these goondas. People should be organized in Humain Rights activities.
