Bangalore: MLA Sampangi Removal - Probe Committee Formed

Bangalore, Feb 28: A special house committee headed by deputy speaker of the legislative assembly K G Bopaiah has been formed to investigate into the incident in which KGF MLA Y Sampangi was caught by the Lokayukta police while allegedly accepting bribe from a person in the Legislators Home here on January 29.

Assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar, who has been under constant pressure from the opposition to remove Sampangi from the house for bringing disrepute to the legislature with his action, announced in the assembly session on Friday February 27 that the committee will submit its report on the incident within 30 days.

MLAs Yogish Bhat, Tippeswamy, Basavaraj Patil Attoor, N Y Gopalakrishna, V Srinivas Prasad and H K Kumaraswamy have been appointed as members of the probe committee. Shettar said he would initiate further action in the issue after the committee submits its report.
