Udupi : Raghupathy Bhat Distributes Financial Aid of Rs 2.13 crore to Dalits

Udupi, Mar 1: MLA Raghupathy Bhat laid the foundation stone for the concreting of K M Marg and distributed  facilities under the scheduled tribe and caste  programme held in the city on Saturday February 28.

The benefits distributed to people from the scheduled tribes and castes in Udupi amounted to Rs 2.13 crore.

Speaking at the programme held at the city council hall Bhat said that most of the Dalits had missed  facilities from  the  government because only the members of some organizations were using it. But  now, the state government is planning  to provide maximum facilities  through the various  departments, he added. 










St Mary's Island  in Malpe will be improved by the tourism department which has been provided Rs 10 crore in the budget. The K M Marg will be concreted t a cost of Rs 86  lac, he  said adding that  Rs 1 crore each had also been earmarked for Kacchura Maldi, Babbuswamy Moolakshetra in Barkur and for Bennekudru Mogaveera community hall. 

The MLA distributed two laptops to two engineering students of the Dalit community and  111 beneficiaries received aid documents from the government. 

Dinakar Shetty, president, city  council, Panduranga Malpe, standing committee chairman, and commissioner Narayanappa were also present.
