Udupi: Hejamady Port to be Developed Soon - Palemar

Udupi, Mar 2: The Hejamady minor port has been in a state of utter neglect since the last 11 years. Measures necessary for the development of the port will be taken soon, said Krishna J Palemar, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, after visiting the Hejamady Port on Sunday March 1, 2009.

The state government has released a sum of Rs 20 crore for the development of various ports. Palemar asked the officials to use two crore rupees sanctioned for the development of Hejamady port, to undertake desilting activity. Since the tender process has been concluded, construction works will resume very soon, the minister assured.

Around 11 ports have been developed in the state with private participation and 10 of them have already been identified. A detailed plan will also be drafted for the development of Hejamady port, he assured.
