Udupi: ‘Samskriti Utsav’ as Part of Tingale Garadi Nemotsav on Mar 8

‘Samskriti Utsav’ will be held at Tingale Garadi at Nadpal village in Karkala taluk, near here on Sunday March 8.  The programme will be presided over by state home minister Dr V S Acharya. 
 
Although ‘Nemotsavs’ are a popular practice across Tulunadu, literary programmes are held at the Tingale Garadi along with religious ceremonies. The literary celebration during Nemotsav was first introduced here by late Tingale Ravindra Heggade. 

He had introduced the literary works of eminent litterateurs such as Karanth, Kayyar, Bannanje, Ku Shi Anantamurti, Kurkukody G V Iyer, and Satyakama, during the Nemotsavs here in the past. 

It was attended by the Swamijis of Pejavar, Palimar, Adamar, and Edaneer Maths.  Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade has also attended the literary programmes associated with Nemotsav at Tingale Garadi. 

Bannanje Govind Acharya has been attending the programme here since the past 33 years, stated their press release.
 
The rural areas across the coastal district are the hotspots of Tulunadu culture.  Therefore, the practice of staging Yakshagana plays, Bharatanatyam, music, and religious celebrations, thrived along with literary promotion and Nemotsav.  ‘Sadhana’ awards were conferred on distinguished personalities in recognition of their significant literary contributions.
 
The veteran litterateurs are likely to attend the programme here on Sunday. N Gururaj of the editorial department of Kannada daily ‘Udayavani’ will be felicitated on the occasion.  Padmasri Bannanje Govind Acharya will deliver a talk on Ramarajya.  Veteran comedian Narasimha Joshi Gangavati will enthrall the audience with his mimicry.
 
‘Oddammaraya Nadavali’, a rare Tulunadu ritual will be held on Saturday March 7 on the banks of river Sita exemplifying the glory of Tulunadu, stated Vikramarjuna Heggade in a press release.
