Relly agree with Pushparaj Shetty. Age old traditions meaning higher the status more demand for dowry ?? I have seen the sufferings of parents of Bunts community girls when the time comes for marriage where dowry is based on grooms status & qualification e.g. for Doctor / Engineer certain amount is fixed. It is the high time that high profile community leaders look into this to stop the deaths and the girls do not opt for marriage outside the community boys to escape the prevailing evil named 'dowry' - Thank you.
