Udupi: Women’s Hostel of Shirva MSRS College Inaugurated

Udupi, Apr 8:
“The union government has increased the aid for higher education at least nine times.  Not many educational institutions from Karnataka are coming forward to avail the Human Resources Development (HRD) and University Grants Commission (UGC) aid”, said Dr N R Shetty, chairman, New Delhi Indian Society for Technical Education. 
 
Dr Shetty was speaking at the inauguration of the women’s hostel and annual day celebrations of M S R S College, Shirva, near here, on Monday April 6. 
 
“Only nine percent of citizens pursue higher education in the country, and this is the lowest when compared to western nations”, added Dr Shetty.
 
Sri Vishwaprasannateertha Swami while gracing the occasion said that the restorations of many temples across the undivided Dakshina Kannada district have been undertaken over the past few years.  He added that the integral development of the district will be achieved only with due importance to education and health care.

Nitte University chancellor Vinay Hegde presided over the programme. 
 
Vidhyavardak Sangh Secretary V Subbayya Hegde read the report.  Principal Professor Bhaskar Shetty read the annual report. 
 
Women’s hostel building contractors M Gopal Bhat and Sujay Kumar Shetty Karkal, were felicitated on the occasion.
 
Talented student Sandhya Shenoy was also honoured.
 
Treasurer Dinesh Shetty and secretary V Subbayya Hegde were present on the dais. 
 
Correspondent K Rajaram Shetty welcomed the gathering.  Mattar Ratnakar Hegde proposed vote of thanks and Dr Sudhakar Marla compered the programme.
