Udupi, Apr 8: A ceremony to confer Sri Rajarajeshwarateertha awards and the convocation programme of Yoga Deepika Gurukul, was held at the base Math of Palimar Math near Padubidri on Tuesday April 9.

The awards function was held as a part of 'Vasantotsava-09' programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math noted, that the Madhwa culture is on the wane, and exhorted the spiritual heads and priests to take up measures to usher in people belonging to other castes including Mogaveers into the culture by initiating them into the Madhwa philosophy to ensure that Madhwa culture survives.

It was seen during the district-wide religious tours, that many Madhwas have been neglecting the ‘Madhwa’ since the past several years. The Brahmins alone might not be able to conserve the Madhwa philosophy and Culture. Hence the Mogaveers must also be given the spiritual training to strengthen the efforts of the Brahmins to strengthen and carry on the culture for our future generations, he said.

The priests and scholars have to perform their duties with earnestness and responsibility by considering the same as the service to the Lord and not as mere profession, to spread religious awareness in the society, said Swamiji.

Vidwan Shibaroor Hayagriva Tantri and Vidhwan Vattamgadu Hari Acharya Srirangam were honored with the awards and cash rewards of Rs 15,000 each, on the occasion. Vidwan Nagarahalli Prahlad Acharya Mumbai delivered the convocation address.

Sri Vidyadeeshateertha Swamiji, Palimar Math and Vishwaprasannateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math were present on the occasion. Principal of Yoga Deepika Gurukul Santoor Padmanabh Tantry welcomed. Raman Kalkura presented the programme.
