Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 15: Chota Shakil associate Rashid Malbari and his four accomplices, who are in judicial custody, have been shifted to Hindalga Jail in Belgaum for security reasons. Mangalore sub-jail authorities said that Rashid was escorted to Belgaum by the District Armed Reserve Police personnel on Tuesday morning.

Sayaf TA, Mohammed Hasim, Ibrahim alias Sahid Ibrahim and Sahil Ismail Sheikah, Rashid’s accomplices, had been shifted to Belgaum as soon their police custody with Ullal policemen ended. As Malbari was later handed over to the Panambur police custody and as he was remanded to judicial custody only on Monday till April 25, he was taken to Belgaum.

Rashid Malbari had played a prominent role in a failed attempt on the life of Chota Rajan, a rival of Dawood Ibrahim gang, at Bangkok some time back. As such, the policemen had received intelligence inputs that said, Malbari might be targetted by some underworld gangs. As such, he was provided with a lot of security while escorting to the court here.

As the police department felt they might not be able to provide proper security to Malbari in view of the grave danger to his life, they shifted him to Belgaum, it is gathered.
