Mangalore: Ambedkar was Great Humanist - Poojary

Mangalore, Apr 15: Ex-union minister and Congress Party candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency B Janardhan Poojary hailed Bharatratna Dr B R Ambedkar as one of the greatest humanists the world has ever seen, apart from being a constitutional expert.

He was speaking after taking part in the 118th birth anniversary programme of the late Dr B R Ambedkar at the district congress office in the city on Tuesday April 14, as chief guest.

Poojary also added that the secularist principles the country's constitution has advocated are playing a stellar role in building a strong nation.

District Congress president B Ramanath Rai, district Congress scheduled communities unit president Padmanabh Naringana and district Congress vice president Kallige Taranath Shetty also addressed those present on the occasion.

District Congress general secretary Sadashiv Ullal, district secretaries T K Sudhir and Vishwas Kumar Das, district Youth Congress president Arun Coelho, ex-mayor Ashraf, Vinayraj and Sharif were present. North Block Congress Committee president Suresh Ballal welcomed. Sanjeev Kotian proposed vote of thanks.

    "Dr B R Ambedkar as one of the greatest humanists the world has ever seen." On this statement everyone agrees with Poojari irrespective of the partyline or religionline. As this is the election time and he is one of contestant, Poojari should focus on himself rather than on Dr. Ambedkar.

    Mr. Poojary you first learn from Dr. Ambedkar- his teachings and his legacy, be humble like him and work for the people, no doubt the women at Bengre asked you "What you have done for them" and you had no answer. So Mr. Poojary better late than never, please start following Dr. Ambedkar teaching before you preach others.
