Puttur: Man arrested for duping bank with fake gold

Puttur, Jul 21: Police of the town have arrested a person on the accusation of cheating a bank by pledging fake gold to get a loan.
 
The arrested accused is identified as Ganesh Acharya. He used to work as a Pigmy collector of a bank. He had taken a loan from Federal Bank, situated at the Minar Complex on the main road of the town and used to pay the loan amount in installments. However, of late he defaulted in his EMI payment. The bank, which suspected Ganesh's motive got the golden ornaments tested by experts that the accused had pledged with the bank. It came to light during the checking that the golden ornaments are not real gold.
 
The bank had registered a complaint in this regard with the police. Ganesh Acharya was arrested by the police and is produced to the court. He is remanded to judicial custody.
