Mangaluru: Aged woman driven out by daughter accommodated in Ashram

Mangaluru, Jul 23: The old woman who was mercilessly banished from her home by her daughter, was on Monday July 22 admitted into an Ashram with the help of senior citizens helpline.The 80-year-old woman was admitted into the Ashram by Yamuna D, district senior citizens and differently abled welfare officer, coordinator of senior citizens helpline, Lidwin Lobo, and social worker, Pavitra.

The mother-daughter duo used to quarrel among themselves since long. After the differences became unbearable, the daughter had driven her mother out of her home at 1 am on July 20. The woman had to spend the whole night without shelter in the midst of heavy rain. On Saturday morning, the neighbours had taken the daughter to task after which she had allowed her mother to come in.

The locals had reported the matter to rural police station here, and asked them to extend protection to the mother and take steps against the daughter. The police had contacted senior citizens help desk.
