Puttur, Jul 23: Thieves burgled cash and gold ornaments from a house at Bannur Jainaraguri here on the night of Saturday. No one was inside the house when it was burgled. The theft came to light on Sunday July 21 morning.

The house in question belongs to Raj, who owns a jewellery shop in the city. The thieves took away gold ornaments weighing about five and half sovereigns and cash. The thieves broke open the rear door of the house and took away the ornaments and cash kept in an almirah inside the house.

Raj and his family members had locked their house on Saturday and left to visit Raj's sister living at Uppingnaady. They returned on Sunday and found that thieves had entered their home when they were away.

Finger print experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service. A case of theft was registered in the town police station here.
