Udupi, Jul 24: A condolence meeting to pay tribute to Nagesh Padu, video journalist of BTV channel, who died suddenly of Dengue fever, was held by Udupi district working journalists’ association (UDWJA) at the press club here on Wednesday, July 24.

Nagesh Padu (35), died at KMC Hospital in Mangaluru on the night of Sunday due to Dengue fever. He was in the intensive care unit for five consecutive days.

Shashidhar Mastibailu, journalist for Suvarna Channel said, “Nagesh Padu was a very active journalist and had concern towards the society. Actually his death is a sacrifice to the society. He got infected, while he was on duty at dengue-affected areas. One should not be careless about his health. But he was always ready to do pro-social activities. His death was unexpected and hard to digest.”

Anish D'Souza, Nagesh's friend and colleague expressed deep condolences and said, “I have been in touch with him since four years. He is such a humble, dedicated and jovial person. He always wanted to keep people around him happy and was active in work. It is a huge loss for us. Journalists do not care about their health because of their busy schedule. But it may cost life. So, all the journalists must take care of their health. We lost a skilled journalist. I pray the almighty God to grant strength to his family to bear his loss.”

UDWJA president Ganesh Prasad Pandelu expressed heartfelt condolences to the departed soul.

Nagraj Rao, press club correspondent, Michael Rodrigues, joint secretary, Diwakar Hiriyadka, treasurer, Santhosh Saralebettu, general secretary, Jayakar Suvarna, former president and press club members were present.
