Mangaluru, Jul 25: The demise of young video journalist Nagesh Padu, working for BTV channel, came as a shock to many. Now it is learnt that many city based journalists are suffering from dengue fever and are under treatment in various hospitals.

Jithendra Kundeshwar, bureau chief, Vishwavani, Mangaluru Edition, is admitted to KMC hospital in Mangaluru and under treatment. Mithun, working for TV5 channel is under treatment for dengue fever at K S Hegde hospital, Deralakatte. Same time, Kishan Shetty, district reporter of Digvijaya TV and Nikhil, working as a cameraman for News18, Harsha, reporter, are getting treatment in Belthangadi government hospital. Harsha chief correspondent, Deccan Herald, Mangaluru is also under treatment for dengue in private hospital.

Wilfred Prakash, Rajesh, camerapersons of TV9, Ashok , cameraman , Suvarna News, Sharath Kumar, reporter, BTV, Dheeraj, sub editor, Kannada Prabha, Azad Khandiga, cameraman , Vartha Bharathi are also affected by dengue and now are under treatment in various hospitals in city.

It is learnt that a week before being affected by Dengue, a team of journalists visited Gujjara Kere, a dengue affected area for reporting. The journalists’ efforts to highlight the issue got success and district administration responded swiftly with precautionary methods and awareness on dengue. But it is sad that the fever grabbed majority of journalists who highlighted the issue and the media fraternity lost one their colleague.
