Bantwal: Scared of approaching train wild buffalo runs and gets hurt, dies

Bantwal, Jul 26: In a heart-rending incident, a wild buffalo which ran after getting scared by an approaching train got stuck in between a tree and died.

The incident occured at Gangepalu, Mani village, Bantwal on the morning of Thursday, July 25. The 4-year-old wild buffalo was crossing the tracks when the train was approaching. Scared, it ran due to the noise of the train. Forest officials said that it died when its neck and horn broke when it got stuck in between the tree. Locals who had gone to the hills to bring fodder saw the animal and informed forest officials.

Bantwal forest department officials Jithesh, Yashodhara Dayananda, Kyatalinga, Praveen, Yogish and vehicle driver Jayaram visited the spot and took further action.

Veterinary doctor, who arrived, conducted post-mortem of the animal, burnt its dead body and got it buried.
