Mangaluru: Railway traffic on Mangaluru - Hassan route resumed

Mangaluru, Jul 26: Movement of trains on the tracks on Mangaluru - Sakleshpur - Hassan route resumed after remaining suspended for several days. Rail traffic was closed on this route on account of a huge boulder that was threatening to get dislodged on the tracks near Siribagilu station. After clearing this boulder, trains were allowed on this track since Thursday July 25.

Railway department had suspended movement of trains on this segment since July 20. Initially, goods trains were run on the tracks on Thursday morning on trial basis. A goods train left the city at 6 am on Thursday and moved on these tracks. Before that the engineering department officials of the railways had checked the quality of tracks at the spot. Thereafter, passenger train was allowed to run at night.
