Bantwal, Dec 21: The heat of curfew in five police station limits in Mangaluru after protests against Citizenship amendment act 2019 and police shooting yesterday had touched Bantwal also.

Shops that remained partly closed in Bantwal, B C Road, Melcar, Kalladka, Vitla and other important places in the town downed their shutters in the afternoon. No untoward incidents were reported.

The number of people and the vehicles on the road was less. While private buses stopped operations, KSRTC buses plied only till B C Road.

Police have sent back some people who were persuading to close shops in Bantwal in the morning. Some shopkeepers closed their shops on their own.

Sufficient policemen are deployed at Bantwal circle. Bantwal police have assured that they will not give room to create disturbances.

District panchayat CEO Selvamani and taluk tahsildar Rashmi S R are stationed at B C Road centre and watching the situation. Different government offices including taluk mini Vidhan Saudha were empty without people.
