Commissioner in the department of public instruction, Dr K G Jagadeesh, said that some of the students appearing for SSLC examination suffer from diabetes - 1. He said that some students and their parents, over phone, had requested him to permit such students to carry insulin pump and tablets inside the examination centre to enable them to control their sugar level. He said that taking into consideration the genuineness of the demand, the same has been permitted.

The superintendents of examination centres have been asked to provide an opportunity for the students requesting to allow them to take insulin inside the examination centres after examining the prescription by the doctors about the diabetic condition.

He said that provision has been made to provide special teachers who know sign language but are not subject experts in the subject for which the student is appearing, to respond to doubts or confusions that might occur in the minds of students having hearing problems during the period of the examination. The chief superintendents of the examination centres have been told to deploy teachers after examining the hall ticket and medical certificate of the students.

The commissioner has asked the deputy directors of the department and block education officers to convey this information to the teachers of high schools located within their jurisdictions and ask the students concerned to make proper use of these facilities.
