Shivamogga, Apr 6: On Sunday, April 5, a fire broke out in the children's section of the district Mcgann Hospital here on account of electrical short circuit. Luckily, no loss of life was reported.
After fire broke out due to short circuit, the staff immediately led children and puerperal women to safety. The fire brigade personnel arrived on time and doused the flames. The tragedy would have given rise to large scale devastation if there was a delay in handling it.
After the fire was noticed in the children's section, 25 babies aged less than a month in the ward were taken to Sarjee Hospital in the city. Three children aged above one month had inhaled smoke but there was no damage. All are being treated, said minister, K S Eshwarappa.
