Bengaluru: Heavy rain, lightning to pound state for three days

Bengaluru, Apr 23: The meteorological department has predicted that south interior Karnataka will witness heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning for three days commencing from Thursday, April 23. The department has issued yellow alert for Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan and Shivamogga districts.

Director of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Dr G S Srinivas Reddy, said that some areas in southern interior Karnataka are getting rainfall on account of the trough. He said that on account of the trough effect, the state will get rain for three more days. Arasalu in Shivamogga got 80 mm of rain while Hunchadakatte, Kalasa, Baramasagara got between 10 and 20 mm of rainfall. Reddy said that there has been a significant rise in temperature in various districts of Karnataka yesterday.
