Udupi, Apr 25: In an initiative of SCDCC Bank, president M N Rajendra Kumar distributed food kits to ASHA workers, co-operative sector employees and media persons.

Speaking in the occasion Rajendra Kumar said, "We are going through a dreadful situation and the situation may worsen or may not in the upcoming days. Nations cooperative sector has donated Rs 25 crore to Prime Minsiter’s relief fund. As the industries are dependent on migrant labourers and they have already returned to their respective home towns we may face shortage of labour in upcoming days. Economic development may take a long time".

Udupi DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda who was also present for the distribution addressed the gathering and said "It is a responsibility to strengthen the health workers’ will power. All the three patients of Udupi and a pregnant women of Uttar Kannada district are discharged. It will take around 3 to 4 months to control the spread of this pandemic. In these times we have to cooperate with the government."

Food kits including rice, oil, tea powder, and other essential items was distributed to the media persons, ASHA health workers and employees of cooperative sector.

Lalaji Mendon, MLA Kaup, Jayakar Shetty Indrali, president, district cooperative union, Yashpal Suvarna, president DK and Udupi Fish Merchants’ Federation, Belapu Devi Prasad Shetty, secretary, district cooperative bank, and were present among others on the occasion.
