Mysuru, Apr 27: Nanjangud MLA B Harshavardhan, reiterated that there is no question of allowing Jubilant Pharma company to reopen unless it reimburses the loss faced by Nanjangud. He said that this condition will prevail irrespective of what conclusion the ongoing investigation will reach.

The government has already ordered an investigation led by IAS officer Harsh Gupta, into how coronavirus infection entered the factory in the first place because of contradictions and confusions. Over 60 employees were later found infected, the factory too had to be closed down, and families were quarantined.

"I welcome the decision of Jubilant to contribute Rs 10 crore to Prime Minister's Relief Fund. But, because of the coronavirus, the entire economic condition of Nanjangud has been destroyed. I learnt that the factory is preparing to begin operations again. They should first confirm who will be responsible if the situation like that of the past comes haunting back again. Already the district administration has spent Rs 8 crore towards corona testing, treatment, and providing food to the citizens. I have no objection if the company begins to work after compensating for the loss," he asserted.
