Bantwal, May 2: "Drivers and owners of autorickshaw, goods vehicles and tourist cars plus the labour class have extended maximum cooperation to the administration to control the coronavirus pandemic, thogh they are having difficulty of maintaining family and financial distress. The entire society has to thank them specially," said MLA U T Khader.

Khader was speaking after distributing food and vegetable kits to 280 drivers of public vehicles of Farangipet and Meramajalu villages, from his own personal expense on Friday May 1.

Khader further said, "The contribution of labourers, autorickshaw drivers, public goods transport owner and tourist car owners is immense in the development of the country. They sweat the whole year due to which the country is progressing. But society does not recognise their efforts.

"The government has planned several programmes for the upliftment of workers. But none of the projects of the government are reaching them. The government has to immediately look into this. It should make way for their families to live a life of dignity."
