Beltangady: Illegal slaughterhouse raided - Two arrested

Beltangady, May 2: Personnel of Punjalkatte police station, on Friday May 1, raided a den notorious for illegal cow slaughter located at Berbalaje in Machina village in the taluk. They also arrested two persons.

The arrested men have been identified as Muhammed Haneef and Muhammed Sadiq, both from Berbalaje in Machina village.

After learning that cows were being slaughtered illegally in a cottage located in the backyard Muhammed Haneef's house, Punjalkatte sub-inspector of police, Saumya, led a team of policemen to the spot and raided the den. During the raid, an accused named Hamza escaped. The police are searching for him.

The police confiscated 15 kg beef valued at about Rs 3,000 and equipment used to slaughter the cow and prepare the beef during the raid.

A case stands registered in this respect in Punjalkatte police station.
