Beltangady: Baby killed, four injured, as car hits parked truck

Beltangady, May 7: A nine-month-old baby died and four others suffered grievous injuries after a moving car rammed into a stationary truck on Charmadi Road in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6.

The baby, identified as Madhavi, daughter of Pramod from Ujire Panyalu, sustained critical injuries in the accident and passed away when being taken to the hospital. Pramod, who was driving the car, his wife Ashwini, and their co-passengers Mamata and her daughter Swathi, suffered grave injuries. All of them have been hospitalised.

Pramod along with family members had visited a relative at Vamadapadavu on Tuesday. At around midnight, the family was returning home when it hit a lorry that was parked by the roadside near a petrol bunk. The impact of the collision was so hard that the front of the car suffered heavy damage. Injured Mamata and Swathi were admitted into Benaka Hospital at Ujire. Pramod and Ashwini were shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
