Udupi, May 7: Usually it is common for a patient, who has not recovered in the taluk hospital to get cured in the district hospital as it has got more specialized doctors and facilities. However, in a surprising event, a patient who did not recover in the Udupi district hospital reported amazing recovery in the taluk hospital of Kundapur.

Satish, native of Mangaluru had got admitted to Ajjarakadu district hospital 15 days ago to get treatment for some abdominal disease. When the doctors tested they found that the liver of the patient is damaged. The stomach of the patient was swollen like a balloon. The treatment given at the district hospital of Udupi did not go well with the patient and his condition got worsened. He was discharged from the hospital.

The patient was wailing continuously as he could not bear the stomach pain. Mother of the patient approached social worker Vishu Shetty Ambalpady. Vishu Shetty took immediate action and took the patient to Kundapur taluk hospital.

Dr Nagesh of Kundapur taluk hospital diagnosed rat fever with the patient in addition to stomach ailment and treated him accordingly. Now the patient Satish has recovered fully and is discharged. Vishu Shetty Ambalapady also arranged an ambulance to take the patient to his native place Mangaluru after recovery. The ambulance rent was paid by Vishu Shetty himself. He was ably suppported by Ramdas Palan.

Satish, the patient who has recovered says, "I do not know how many days I will live. The treatment given by Dr Nagesh has given me new ray of hope to live. Otherwise, by this time I would have been dead. In the district hospital of Udupi they did not diagnose the rat fever that I was having. The interest shown by social worker Vishu Shetty saved my life. Vishu Shetty, who came to know about the financial condition of me, got Rs 10,000 paid for my treatment through his friend Harshan Bannanje. I am indebted to Dr Nagesh, Vishu Shetty and Harsha Bannanje, who have saved me from certain death."
