Puttur: Aqua Animals Perish as Miscreants Mix Poison to Rivulet

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Feb 12: A large number of aqua animals like fish, tortoise, snakes etc., died and their bodies were seen floating on the surface of the water at Bilinele near Kadaba in the taluk on Wednesday February 10.

Some mischief mongers had poured large quantities of poisonous substances or strong pesticides into a tributary of River Kumaradhara. The farmers, who use the river water for agricultural purpose, own consumption, cooking and for their cattle, are worried about this phenomenon. They are afraid that they might contract diseases and their cattle and crops may get damaged if they use this water.

While there has been a demand for finding out the culprits and arresting them, no official complaint was lodged with the policemen. The people want the authorities to test the water and take steps to purify it.
