Kundapur: Lives of Four from Taluk Snuffed Out by Ore Truck in Ankola

Kundapur, Feb 13: After a Mitsubishi Lancer car, in which a few people from Dharwad, whose native is Uppunda in the taluk, were travelling to be able to observe Maha Shivaratri on Friday in their native place, was hit by a truck laden with iron ore at Sunkasala near Ankola on Friday February 12, four people including three from a family, lost their lives.

Sujata Balakrishna Shetty (36), Sulakshana Bhujanga Shetty (30) and her daughter, Rishita Bhujanga Shetty (8) from Uppunda, now settled in Dharwad, and Nagesh (28), car driver from Kelageri in Dharwad, died in the accident.

The family was to perform some religious rituals at Lord Umamaheshwar temple in Uppunda on Shivaratri day. Some other members of this family, who were travelling by another car, were saved. Charita Shetty (11), son of Sulakshana, had a providential escape, as he got down from the car and chose to travel by the other car some time before the accident.
