Kasargod: One Arrested, Fake Notes Worth Rs 15 Lac Seized

Kasargod, Feb 13: The district policemen arrested a resident of Chennai, named Murugesh (48), from Perikula near Kumil in the district, and seized from him fake notes worth Rs 15 lac, reportedly meant for distribution in North Kerala districts.

The fake notes, all of which are of the face of Rs 500, were printed in Sivakasi in Tamill Nadu. The accused, who rented a house in Perikula, had come to the Perikula bus stand for sending the notes to different persons. When the policemen, who got scent of his activities, arrested him, they recovered fake notes worth three lac rupees. During the search of his residence, notes worth Rs 12 lac were recovered later.

Murugesh said that the notes were meant for delivery to some agents in Kerala. The policemen have stumbled upon an organized racket involved with spreading of fake notes in the district. They also have information that another organized gang is involved with distributing fake notes by centralizing their activities in a house in the town, but so far, they have been unable to unearth this gang.
