Bantwal, Jul 31: “The government should realize the concept of Sala Mela by Janardhan Poojary who responded to the difficulties of the people and introduce new schemes,” said KPCC president D K Shivakumar. He spoke after visiting the former union minister at his residence at Bastipadpu here on Friday evening.

“The governments at the centre and the state have only made statements of releasing Rs 20 lac crore and Rs 1,600 crore. But no one is benefited by the statements. But Janardhan Poojary brought the bank of Sala Mela to the doorstep of the people. History cannot be denied. We should learn from Poojary how to help people in difficulties. He is my guide to unite the party. His service to the poor is memorable. I have obtained his blessings during my visit. The visit has made me glad,” he said.

Shivakumar was welcomed by Panemangaluru and Bantwal Congress blocks under the leadership of former minister B Ramanath Rai as he arrived in Bantwal.

D K Shivakumar met senior Congress and local leaders and conducted discussions.

D K Shivakumar enquired about the health of Poojary during his visit and recollected the days of Sala Mela. It is said that Poojary advised him to maintain unity in the party. Janardhan Poojary’s son Deepak, wife and daughter in law were present.

Senior party leaders accompanied D K Shivakumar during his visit.
