Udupi, Aug 25: The Kundapur civil and sessions court has quashed an anticipatory bail application moved by Kishen Hegde Kolkebail. Kishen faces a case of cheating filed by his brother, in which he has been accused of creating forged documents to mortgage land owned by his mother and brothers and raising huge loans on the basis of forged documents.

Kishen Hegde's brother, Kishore Hegde, had filed a complaint in Kota police station in this connection. A case stands registered against Hegde, who till recently was a  prominent leader in the cooperative sector.

Kishen Hegde is a native of Kolkebail in Brahmavar taluk. Currently, he resides in an apartment complex at Ambalpady, Udupi. It is said that he along with his wife, Prasadini Shedthi, had created forged documents relating to family property. He also raised huge loan on the basis of a forged general power of attorney and consent letter purportedly for cheating his late mother, Vishalakshi Hegde, brother, Kiran Hegde Kolkebail and Kishore Hegde Kolkebail. The complainant said that a sum of Rs 1.95 crore had been raised against the said property.

Kota station house officer, who registered the case and held a detailed investigation, had filed first information report to the court after realizing the seriousness of the offence. The court which heard arguments and counter-arguments observed that prima facie the cheating case has been proved and the concerned had failed to produce the original copy of the general power of attorney. Upholding the arguments of the public prosecutor, the court dismissed the bail petition filed by Kishen Hegde Kolkebail.  

Second accused, Prasadini Shedthi, has been granted conditional bail as per which she has to furnish a personal bond for Rs 2 lac, to cooperate with the police officials who are investigating the case, not to pose threats to the complainant and not to destroy evidence. The police are now on the lookout for the accused, Kishen Hegde Kolkebail.
