Shivamogga: Police foil suicide bid at Jog Falls

Shivamogga, Aug 27: A youth from Bengaluru attempted to commit suicide by jumping from atop Rani falls, which is a part of Jog Falls, on Wednesday, August 26.

Chetan Kumar (35) from Bengaluru wanted to end his life in this fashion. He is said to be holding a postgraduate degree in business administration. Reportedly, he is suffering from mental depression. He had come to Jog Falls a couple of days back.

On Wednesday, Chetan crossed the fencing and entered the prohibited area of the Rani Falls side. He reached atop the falls and tossed down his bag before jumping into the valley. The locals immediately informed the police. The police led by deputy superintendent of police, Vinayak Shettigar, working along with fire brigade personnel, succeeded in locating the man after a three-hour operation. Chetan was cajoled and convinced to change his mind and was brought back.
