Kundapur: Foundation stone laid for various works at Shankaranarayana PU College

Kundapur, Aug 31: "So far Byndoor legislative constituency has got a grant of Rs 800 crore. NABARD has already released Rs 200 crore for the proposal of supplying every house of the village with drinking water. Rs 350 crore is sanctioned by the union government. Within two years, every house of Byndoor constituency will get drinking water. For this purpose, water purification and treatment plant will be established at Holeshankaranarayana which will cater to water to households of 16 villages. Another water purification plant will be constructed at Gulvadi which will cater drinking water to 43 villages," said MLA of the constituency B M Sukumar Shetty.

Sukumar Shetty was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of five rooms and two toilets for the Shanakaranarayana PU college at a cost of Rs one crore.

MLA Sukumar further said, "Shankaranarayan PU college is a government college in Udupi, which has got the highest number of students who have secured distinctions. The number of students in this college should increase. At least 150 to 200 more students should join this college. I will make arrangements to bring grants to the new building of the college. I will speak to the assistant commissioner with respect to the land that is reserved for the college."

Zilla panchayat member, Rohit Shetty, taluk panchayat member, Umesh Shetty Kalgadde, Haddur Rajeeva Shetty, member of Shankaranarayana agricultural service society Sachidananda Vaidya, executive president of the school development committee, Manjunath Shetty, contractor Arunkumar Shetty, president of BJP Raitha Morcha, Sudhakar Kulal, member of land tribunal committee Ashok Kumar Shetty, vice-president Samrat Shetty and PWD engineers were present.
