Kasargod, Sep 10: In an incident which happened at Madikai in the district on Wednesday September 9, a lady jumped into a well along with her baby. The mother lost her life in the incident and the child was rescued by the locals it is learnt.
Beena, wife of Sudhakar from Madikai jumped into the well located in the courtyard of her home along with her 30-month-old daughter. The well is 30 feet deep. The locals who saw the incident rushed to rescue the duo. However, they succeeded in saving the life of the child alone.
The fire brigade personnel from Kanhangad arrived at the spot. Even though they transported the mother and child to a hospital, the mother did not respond to treatment. The child is recovering in the hospital.
Reason for this suicide bid could not ascertained immediately. Nileshwar police are investigating.
